Albion have swooped to sign another young prospect from promotion rivals Reading.

The Seagulls have taken striker Harry Cardwell on loan from the Royals for the rest of the season for their under-23s.

Cardwell, 20, a Scotland under-21 international, has played 11 games for the Berkshire club's under-23s in Premier League Two and the Checkatrade Trophy this season.

He has previously been on loan with National League sides Braintree Town and Woking.

Albion under-23s coach Simon Rusk said: "I'm delighted Harry has joined the squad for the remainder of the season and he'll add good competition to what we've already got in forward areas.

"He's coming into a fantastic club and will join a hard-working group of players that have given me everything this season so far."

Albion signed Reading's 19-year-old keeper Billy Collings for the rest of the season earlier this week for an undisclosed fee.

The Seagulls have been overhauling the development group throughout the January transfer window.

Left-back Jordan Davies has arrived from Wrexham, while Jack Harper has returned to Spain with Malaga. Joe Ward (Lincoln), Connor Tighe (Whitehawk) and Tom Cadman (East Grinstead) have all gone out on loan.
