Chris Hughton has urged Albion to get more bodies into the danger area when crosses come in.

And Tomer Hemed reckons it paid off with his 12th-minute strike which sent the hosts on their way to victory over Burton on Saturday.

Albion have scored seven goals in the last one-and-a-quarter matches and will hope for more against an Ipswich side who rode their luck for an impressive clean sheet at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Hemed striker was third in line to receive Anthony Knockaert’s low ball across the goalmouth.

When the ball reached him, he had no problem giving his side the type of start they would love to replicate against the Tractor Boys.

Hemed revealed: “Anthony put the ball in a dangerous area and I think we had three players there.

“The gaffer asks us to give more options and put more bodies in the dangerous area.

“When you have got three players in there, it gives you a better chance to score. It’s better than when it’s just you in there. I had to be in the right area to put the ball in.

“I’m glad I had this chance to score this goal and open the game up for us.”

Hemed had never previously scored in four successive league games for Albion – or in Spain come to that.

He said: “I had good periods in Israel and Spain. Maybe not scoring in every game but many goals in a short time.

“I think I had a good period here about this time last year.

“The main thing is I am now playing more. Before, when the team went 18 games without losing, Sam and Glenn (Murray) played very well and I didn’t really play too much. Now I’m playing and I have the chance to score goals and do what I know.

“I knew I needed patience. When I didn’t play, I worked very hard every day and tried in every minute in the game to show the gaffer I need to play more.”

Hemed doubled his tally with a penalty after March was fouled. The fact Glenn Murray was on the bench at the time made any decision over who took the spot-kick straightforward.

But Hemed said he knew he would be the man even if both of them had managed to be on the pitch together.

He said: “Every game we know before what is going to happen. I knew today if there was a penalty, I would take it. Maybe next game Glenn will take it. Every game is different.”
