Premier League ref Rob Madley has been parachuted in for Albion's big Championship clash with Newcastle at the Amex next Tuesday.

It will be Madley's first match at Championship level since the play-off final between Hull and Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley in May.

His last visit to the Amex was earlier the same month for the 1-1 draw with Derby, the Seagulls' final home game of the regular season, in which Lewis Dunk received a late red card for a second booking.

Dunk was ruled out as a result of the promotion decider at Middlesbrough and the first leg of the play-offs against Sheffield Wednesday.

Madley, who took charge of Tottenham's FA Cup win at Fulham on Sunday, has issued 74 yellow cards and one red in 18 Premier League matches this season.

The Yorkshireman's older brother Andy was the ref for Albion's FA Cup exit at Lincoln last month.

Peter Bankes, the man-in-the-middle for Newcastle's win over Aston Villa last night, has been appointed for Reading's visit to the Amex on Saturday.
