Jenna Legg wants to show her short-lived former club what they missed after bouncing back from injury.

The playmaker-turned-defender makes her home debut for Albion Women against Oxford United today as WSL2 action arrives at Culver Road.

Torn ankle ligaments meant Legg, 19, never got to play for Oxford after signing on loan from Chelsea but she is willing to see the silver living of that long lay-off and is enjoying the early stages of life with the Seagulls.

Legg told The Argus: “I had a loan spell there but didn’t actually play any games. I would have liked to have played for them.

“In total I missed pretty much all last season. It got to about nine months.

“It was hard but you use it to your advantage. You realise how much you miss playing.”

Albion have started the season with three away games but now kick-off their home programme in the Spring Series.

Legg, who has been given a new role by boss George Parris, said: “I’m really enjoying it. I’m settling in well.

“We have had a mixed bag of results but its good we have got a point (1-1 draw with London Bees) to start the Spring Series. It’s early days, we can only improve.

“I’ve been at right-back which is a bit different for me. I’m usually a No.10.

“There has been some player movement in the squad so I’m doing my job at right-back.

“I don’t have a lot of experience there although I’ve played some wing-back at Chelsea.

“But the manager must have seen something in me and thought I could do the job.”

Legg comes from Reading and said she would be remaining “strictly neutral” during yesterday's Championship showdown at the Amex but the switch to Sussex and from a full-time deal with Chelsea has been smooth so far.

She said: “They have set me up with some nice accommodation here.

“I was a full-time professional at Chelsea so I was in every day nine-til-three or nine-til-five.

“Here we do three evenings a week plus the weekend so it is still a big commitment. It’s just as professional in approach.”

Legg has joined Albion with defender Laura Rafferty, a close friend.

Both are initially on board for the Spring Series with a view to signing longer term.

Today's game takes place at Culver Road (2pm). The home fixture against Doncaster a week on Sunday has been postponed due to international call-ups.
