Jamie Murphy believes Albion have nothing to fear from Newcastle after making their return to the top of the Championship child’s play.

The Scot set up tomorrow night’s top-of-the-table tussle against the Toon at the Amex with the second goal in the 3-0 romp against Reading.

Murphy, who will become a dad for the third time at the end of the season, celebrated by sucking a thumb.

The winger said: “My wife is having a little boy, so I’ve been waiting a few months to get that one in.

“She is due in May. I’ve managed to get a photo of me doing that with my first two children. Now I’ve got one for the third.”

Albion are back above Newcastle United by a point after they were held to a 2-2 home draw by struggling Bristol City. Murphy, asked if there is any reason to fear the North-East giants, told The Argus: “No, I don’t think so. Reading are a good side, Newcastle are a good side.

“It’s up to us to be on our game and to be better than them.

“I’ve only played them in a pre-season friendly, never in a competitive game. I didn’t get on up at St James’ Park.

“They are obviously a big club. We could see that when we went there. They’ve got a great stadium and great fans, but us too. We are building down here.

“The stadium’s fantastic, the fans are great. Who knows where we could be in five or ten years?”

Murphy’s first league goal since November came in between Sam Baldock’s tenth and Anthony Knockaert’s 11th as Albion powered to a seventh home win out of eight in all competitions to kill off Reading’s outside hopes of a top two finish.
