Beram Kayal has told of his pride at winning promotion with an old mate.

Now he wants to celebrate the title in front of family and friends.

Kayal was among the Albion players who led the singing from the press box after the historic 2-1 win over Wigan.

He has told Israeli radio that the job is not yet finished and that sharing success with compatriot and friend Tomer Hemed made it extra special.

The midfielder said: “We are first of all very happy we are going to the Premier League. We also want to be champions of the Championship.

“We know that next year we will play in the best league in the world and that is a dream from our childhood.”

Albion need one more win for the title and would be there already had they not conceded a second goal to Newcastle at the end of February.

Kayal revealed he had dreamt of Premier League football since the age of 17 having grown up using stones as makeshift footballs in an area without a proper pitch.

His experiences at Celtic and those gained by Hemed with Mallorca and Almeria will stand them in good stead.

He added: “We grew up together in Haifa and he was in Spain and I was in Scotland and it was good for both of us.

“Brighton is a club for the Premier League and we are celebrating now.

“With God’s help, we will be a part of the team next year.”

Kayal signed a new contract this season while Hemed still has a year left on the deal he agreed almost two years ago.

The former has revealed he is planning a celebration for family and friends from his home town of Jadeidi, population just 20,000.

It will be based around the final home fixture of the campaign, a week on Saturday against Bristol City.

He said: “I have had many texts from people in Jadeidi, from family and friends.

“Many of them want to celebrate with me in Brighton but not all of the town can come!

“My family and best friends will be at the last game to celebrate.

“Not many people in Brighton know the little Arabic village I come from.

“The people have to dream and do everything they can to make achievements like I have.

“We hope many more Israelis will succeed in the way we have.”

Kayal recognised he has had to compete harder for a place this season after Albion boosted their squad. He has also missed matches through injury.

There could be competition again at Norwich on Friday given that Steve Sidwell has started the last two away games.

Kayal said: “Israeli players want to play every game for 90 minutes but this year it was hard for us to always play.

“Every training session and every game was like a cup final because we had to prove ourselves.

“If you play with players who are a very high standard, you can improve yourself.”
