Albion could target Sebastien Pocognoli as a free agent – if Chris Hughton wants him.
West Brom boss Tony Pulis has decided against exercising a one-year option on his out-of-favour Belgium international full-back.
The end of his three-year association with the Baggies will be confirmed once they have completed their Premier League season at Swansea on Sunday.
Albion are potentially seeking a left-back for the fifth time in the last six summers as Gaetan Bong reaches the end of his two-year deal at the Amex.
The clubs have yet to release details of which players are being offered new deals.
Bong and Pocognoli essentially shared left-back duties towards the end of the season, with the latter getting the nod for away games.
Pocognoli started 17 league fixtures for the Seagulls and also attended the promotion celebration along the seafront last Sunday.
He praised the event as “an amazing experience and moment for me.”
Pocognoli cost West Brom £1.5million when he signed for head coach Alan Irvine three years ago but never found favour under Pulis’ management.
