Chris Hughton’s promotion achievement with Albion has been recognised by his fellow bosses – despite missing out on the title.

Hughton has been named the League Managers Association’s manager of the season for the Championship.

The accolade rewards a season in which his side secured their Premier League place as runners-up, pushing hot favourites Newcastle all the way.

Hughton was the only manager to pick up a divisional prize despite not finishing top of the table.

The other prize winners were Antonio Conte (Chelsea), Chris Wilder (Sheffield United) and Paul Cook (Portsmouth), all of whom saw their sides finish as champions.
