Albion are continuing to work on personal terms with Maty Ryan after seeing David Stockdale moved on to Birmingham City.

The Seagulls are looking to bring in the Australian international after agreeing a fee with Valencia.

Chief executive Paul Barber wished Stockdale well and told The Argus: “Obviously the priority right now is the goalkeeper and work is continuing on that.

“We hope to be in a position to move that forward fairly imminently."

Asked about progress with Ryan, he added: “What I can say in terms of where we are with that is it is a work in progress.

“We agreed terms with Valencia last week in Valencia.

“We are working as hard as we can to agree personal terms.

“If we can, it will be a very, very good signing.”

Niki Maenpaa is expected to agree new one-year deal at the Amex though that has not as yet been completed.
