Sam Baldock wants to make a Premier League impact second time around after signing a new Albion contract.

The forward is on board until the summer of 2020 after agreeing a new three-year deal.

He cannot wait to compete for a top-flight place when Chris Hughton’s men report back for training at the end of the month.

The Argus:

Baldock helped West Ham to promotion in 2011-12.

But, after a summer spent preparing for top-flight action, he did not make the squad for their opening fixture against Aston Villa.

He moved on to Bristol City three days later.

Baldock, whose previous contract ran until next summer, said of the Premier League: “I’ve been there – but never played.

“That is something I want to get under my belt.

“I’m untested so it could be that I’ve found my level!”

Baldock missed the promotion run-in through injury but rates last term, when he scored 12 goals, the best of his three to date at the Amex.

He said: “Individually it was my best season– as it was collectively as a group.

“We want to continue that now and see where we can kick on “The three-year contract makes you feel wanted.

“The club want you to stay and feel they can improve you as a player.”

Baldock, 28, scored freely for Bristol City and MK Dons in League One but is coming off his most prolific season in the top two divisions.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton said: “We are delighted that Sam has agreed a new deal with us.

“He has been a key member of the squad since he arrived at the club and this new contract is recognition of his contribution over the last couple of seasons.

“He’s also a great professional and a good character in the dressing room, so we are pleased he will be with us for the next few seasons.”
