Albion have won their battle to land Austrian international defender Markus Suttner.

The 30-year-old left-back has signed for the Seagulls from German club Ingolstadt for a fee of around £3 million on a three-year contract.

The club unveiled their third signing of the summer for their crack at the Premier League at their Austrian training camp in Leogang this morning.

Suttner joins former Ingolstadt team-mate Pascal Gross and Valencia's Australian goalkeeper Maty Ryan in Chris Hughton's evolving squad.

The Argus first reported Albion's interest in Suttner (below) in mid-June.

The Argus: Ingolstadt, relegated from the Bundesliga, rejected at that stage a bid of around £2.2 million and then offered Suttner a new three-year deal, with a year left of his contract.

Suttner's representative, Marcus Klimesch, accused Igolstadt of playing poker with his client's career and urged them to let him go.

Suttner subsequently confirmed his desire to make the move.

He joined Ingolstadt from Austria Vienna two years ago and has been capped by his country 20 times.

Albion still want another full-back to compete with the experienced quartet of Suttner, Gaetan Bong, skipper Bruno and Liam Rosenior.

They remain keen on borrowing versatile young Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.
