Albion legend Inigo Calderon has teamed up John Gregory and the reigning champions of India.
The Basque full-back has agreed a deal with Chennaiyin for the 2017-18 Super League season.
Chennaiyin boss Gregory, formerly in charge at Crawley, revealed Calderon’s efforts with the Seagulls were key in his decision to offer the 35-year-old a deal.
Gregory said: “Inigo is a player I know very well from his time in England with Brighton.
“He is not only a top class defender but also a leader on and off the pitch.
"His quality and experience is going to add a great value to our defence and I am sure the Indian players will also get to learn a lot from him.”
Gregory was a forerunner of Calderon's in the Albion right-back berth during a distinguished playing career.
