Albion will complete their striker options for the Premier League by signing another No.9.

The capture of Izzy Brown from Chelsea on a season-long loan has not finished manager Chris Hughton’s search for more firepower.

Hughton wants another out-and-out striker to help the second-highest goalscorers in the Championship last season cope with the step up.

He told The Argus: “It’s right for where we are. It’s an incredibly tough league to do well in and score goals when you look at the type of defenders now that you are up against.

“It’s another area, and of course the toughest area and the most expensive.

“But we are aware of that. What we have got in Glenn (Murray) and Tomer (Hemed) is two players with good experience at a good level. But we want the best options we can.”

Hughton will use Brown as a No.10 or out wide, not as a centre-forward. Albion missed out on his Chelsea colleague Tammy Abraham, who chose Swansea instead.

Only one loan is permitted from another Premier League club, so they cannot borrow anyone else from the reigning champions.

They still have scope under the regulations for one more loan from elsewhere and retain an interest in young Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, but they will not necessarily borrow again.

Hughton said: “Whether that’s something that materialises at the end (of the transfer window), our thinking wasn’t to bring in a certain amount of loans.

“We might have brought none in and we might have brought two in. Izzy became available and it was a good option for us.

“We might not do another loan. We certainly haven’t built our strategy that way. It might happen but it might not.”

Albion recently rejected a £4 million bid from Reading for Israeli target man Hemed, while Sam Baldock is still sidelined following close season calf surgery.
