Anthony Knockaert returns to Leicester tomorrow with nothing to prove and as a better player than when he left.

That is the hope and belief of manager Chris Hughton as he weighs up the role to hand his French wing wizard in Albion's first away game in the top flight for 34 years.

Leicester gave Knockaert his break into English football when they signed him from Guingamp in the French second division five years ago.

He helped them to the Championship play-offs in his first season, the title in his second, but made only nine appearances in the Premier League before moving to Standard Liege in Belgium.

Hughton said: "Generally in his time at Leicester he did well. I know he was well thought of. Certainly the supporters were very much behind him.

"I'd like to think he doesn't have a point to prove, I don't think he's that type of lad anyway.

"I don't think he will be going back to prove a point. I think he'll want to enjoy going back there because he will have had a lot of friends there.

"Some players, in fact quite a few, will still be there from his time there. I think he'll just enjoy going back there. The supporters were very fond of him and I think he'll get a good reception."
