ALBION are hopeful they have averted another long-term injury blow, this time to Glenn Murray.

They are awaiting the results of a scan on the striker’s ankle injury to assess the extent of his spell on the sidelines.

Murray suffered two knocks to his right ankle in the 2-0 defeat at Leicester.

He was eventually forced off and missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Watford.

The Seagulls were initially optimistic Murray would be fit for the visit to Vicarage Road.

Swelling and bruising prompted concerns, but Murray’s absence is not expected to be long-term.

Fellow forward Sam Baldock remains on the sidelines after summer calf surgery while midfielder Beram Kayal has been ruled out until October by a broken leg sustained in the final pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid at the Amex.

Albion return to Premier League action against West Brom at the Amex on September 9.
