ALBION boss Chris Hughton has blamed defeat at Bournemouth on two “poor goals”.

The Seagulls looked on course for all three points at the Vitality Stadium tonight when Solly March nodded them into a second-half lead.

Andrew Surman levelled within 12 minutes and Jermain Defoe earned Bournemouth their first points of the season six minutes later.

Hughton said: “It’s incredibly disappointing. They have got a lot of quality, move the ball really well, but we handled it well.

“From my point of view they were two poor goals we conceded when we never looked like conceding before that.

“That’s the quality they’ve got, you’ve got to be able to match that.”

Bournemouth sub Jordan Ibe turned the game on its head with assists for both of their goals.

Hughton said: “That’s what they can do, the sort of quality they can bring, plus they were playing at home.

“Conceding brings out a bit more prowess. They’ve got to go for it and they have got players who can do that. But I’m really disappointed with the two goals, because we had defended really well as a back four and a team for the majority of the game.

“It’s a tough one. We had some really good phases when I thought we were really comfortable. We’ll learn from each game. We need to make sure that once we take a lead we are resilient enough to hold onto it.”

Skipper Bruno has extra time to be fit for Newcastle’s visit on Sunday week after missing the match with a back injury.

Albion return to Bournemouth with a much-changed team in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
