Bournemouth have been hailed as a benchmark for Albion in the Premier League.
The Cherries came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory over the Seagulls at the Vitality Stadium on Friday evening.
It was their first win of the season after four straight defeats.
Eddie Howe's side improved to ninth last season after finishing 16th in their first year following promotion.
Albion boss Chris Hughton, asked if they are a benchmark for his own team, said: "I think they have to be. They've got promotion, they've had difficulties over the two seasons. It's impossible to be a team that gets promotion and to have it all your own way.
"They hadn't won for four before this, but it's not the first time in the last couple of seasons where they have lost a few on the spin.
"It's normal, but they have always found a way through it and they are continuing to develop.
"We can learn a lot from the likes of Bournemouth, Burnley, Watford, but we have got to make sure we stay in there and get results when we can."
