Chris Hughton says Albion's Premier League start has to be put into context.

The Seagulls have taken four points from their opening five games following Friday night's 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth.

Boss Hughton said: "Three of those games have been away from home and one of those home games has been against Manchester City, so I think you have to put it into perspective.

"We are the new team in the division and it was never going to be easy. There are some really good signs in some of our play.

"We were very good against West Brom and we were close at Bournemouth. It wasn't really the performance that stopped us from getting something, just those margins.

"We've had enough good periods in these five games to be encouraged, but it's going to be a tough season. I don't think there is anyone at the club that thinks any different. We have to make sure we can get results when we can get results."

Albion return to the Amex next Sunday to host Hughton's former club Newcastle.
