Pascal Gross has spoken of his successful settling-in period with Albion.

The influential German No.10 has been involved all five times the Seagulls have hit the target in the Premier League.

He scored twice in the previous home win against West Bromwich Albion, crossed for Tomer Hemed to score in that game and then for Solly March to head home at Bournemouth.

Gross demonstrated his set piece expertise with the free-kick for Tomer Hemed’s second half winner against Newcastle and is settling in very nicely.

Gross said: “It was a great free-kick, well executed.

“A great lay-off (by Dale Stephens) and a terrific finish. Of course, I am very pleased with that.”

Gross’s roving role allows him to link up on occasions on the left with former Ingolstadt team-mate Markus Suttner.

He said: “If you play with somebody for a longer period of time you know how he works and how he plays so it helps.

“But I’ve known my other team-mates a little longer as well now. You could see that - we put together some good moves.”

Suttner has got better with every game and believes he can gradually demonstrate his attacking qualities, along with his defensive duties.

“I like being in attacking positions,” he said.

“It naturally took a little bit of time to get used to English football and to adapt.

“I think the manager and my team-mates know that attacking is a strength I have. I hope I can be a little bit more offensive for the rest of the season.”

Suttner also hopes to provide more examples of his understanding with Gross from their time together in the Bundesliga.

He said: “We know each other well, we get along well with each other and so I know his preferences, how he likes to get the ball.

“He naturally plays more on the right side, because of his strong right foot.

“But I like it when he joins me on the left-hand side during the game.”

Suttner handled Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie, who was regarded beforehand as their danger man.

He said: “We intended to keep a clean sheet at the back and that worked out.

“They had two or three counter-attacks in the first half, but we knew that they are good at that and defended quite well.

“In the second half we scored the goal at the right time and defended with heart. So we deserved the three points.”
