ANTHONY KNOCKAERT has relived the emotion of his first Premier League goal.

But he thought the breakthrough was coming a few minutes earlier.

The French flyer looked to the sky and dedicated his strike to his late father.

He then marked the occasion after the game with good friends who were visiting from home.

Knockaert told The Argus: “Unfortunately we didn’t keep the three points but it’s a great feeling.

“It’s my first Premier League goal as well.

“I’ve been waiting for it and it will give us great confidence.

“I was thinking about my dad straight away because I knew he would have been the proudest man.

“I had some of my close friends at the stadium so it was great for them to see me score.”

Knockaert saw a goalbound effort somehow diverted to safety by Michael Keane shortly before the goal.

He added: “I still don’t know how he saved that.

“I thought the first one was a goal and it wasn’t to be.

“But I managed to score late and we conceded a poor goal at the end.

“I’d rather not score today and take the three points.

“But we take one point and move on and it’s another big test next at West Ham.”
