ALBION defensive rocks Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk have been urged to enhance their outstanding form by contributing goals to the Premier League survival quest.

The central defenders were towering presences once more in the goalless draw at Newcastle. The pair have missed chances from set-pieces and Duffy headed just over from a corner when well-placed near the end of the first half at St James’ Park.

Hughton said: “Both of them would be the first to admit that (missed chances). They have been excellent this season, really developed as players, and that is a part of the game (scoring).

“It’s not solely down to them. it’s about delivery and others. But when you’ve got two big centre-halves you want them to contribute. That is the next challenge for them and hopefully it comes soon. At some stage one of them will go in.”

Duffy and Dunk helped Albion to a third clean sheet out of four with typically resilient defending to earn a fourth draw in ten matches, with only one victory. Hughton said: “You can’t have everything. It’s a big achievement, coming away from home keeping clean sheets, but the balance is you want to win matches.”
