GLENN MURRAY admits he does not know how good flying winger Jose Izquierdo can be.

But the Albion striker is excited about finding out.

Izquierdo aims for a home-and away double against Stoke City when the Seagulls hit the road on Saturday.

Murray is delighted to see Izquierdo with a spring in his step after his brilliant strike against West Ham.

But, asked if the Colombian is hitting peak form, he replied: “I’m not sure because he is new to me as well.

“I don’t really watch the Belgian league much!

“He’s definitely improving and is a very exciting player and when you have a player of that ilk, he can definitely lift you when he’s going past someone.

“And it obviously lifts the crowd and we need the crowd.”

Izquierdo declined to celebrate after he scored in the 2-2 draw at home to Stoke.

But he made up for that against the Hammers and has been on a high this week.

He was given hero’s welcome when he returned to previous team Club Brugge on Sunday to watch their 3-3 draw with Charleroi.

Murray said: “He’s exuberant, he’s very positive, he’s a happy-go-lucky South American, let’s say.

“He’s always smiling and they are the sort of characters you need around when maybe things aren’t great.”
