BERAM KAYAL wants another crack at the FA Cup – after revealing the key role he is being given off the bench in the Premier League.

Kayal is a likely starter for Albion when they tackle League Two outfit Coventry City in the fifth round on Saturday.

The Israeli international, whose campaign was put on hold by injury suffered in the final pre-season friendly, started narrow wins over Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough in the two previous rounds. Now he wants to help Albion chase what would be the club’s first quarter-final appearance since 1985-86.

He told The Argus: “I’m working so hard and try to get every opportunity to play games.

“I think I am in good shape, looking good. I have proven myself a few times, especially in the Cup, after the broken leg. I was needed in this run of games. Now I’m feeling fit and ready to fight and come back in the game.”

Kayal has relished the chance to help Albion in their current three-game unbeaten league run, albeit as part of a strong bench.

He said: “In the game against West Ham I went on at 3-1 and played as the third midfielder and tried to press higher.

“The same at Stoke. When Leo (Ulloa) came on, we tried not to let them put balls in the box easily. We tried to make it difficult for the other team. I’m now ready to play and do everything the manager asks of me. If it is one of the three in midfield or one of the two, I’m ready to play.”

Albion’s home clash with Arsenal on March 4 was yesterday confirmed as a sell-out.

The Seagulls’ under-23s will play Pagham at Culver Road in the Senior Cup semi-finals on Tuesday, March 13.
