Bruno has revealed the pre-match message which helped ensure Albion did not suffer an FA Cup shock.

The returning skipper said his side treated their fifth-round opponents Coventry City with the maximum respect.

They made sure they would not be on the wrong end of a shock through lack of desire to win.

Albion went through reasonably comfortably thanks to goals from Jurgen Locadia, Connor Goldson and Leo Ulloa in a 3-1 success.

They led from the 15th minute and Bruno said: “What we wanted, as an absolute minimum, was to have the same desire as them.

“We showed the respect we have for the opposition, even though they are in League Two.

“In theory they were an inferior opponent but we gave them all the respect possible.

“You saw that from the attitude with which we started the game.

“Of course, I loved being back at the Amex.

“It was almost a month without playing 90 minutes – even longer at the Amex.

“I was really happy to be able to play, to feel good again and with that desire to keep playing.”
