Chris Hughton believes Albion will have to break their Big Six duck to survive in the Premier League.
The Seagulls have yet to take a point off Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs or Arsenal.
Saturday's visit by Swansea is followed by Arsenal at the Amex eight days later.
Albion, currently 14th with 28 points from 27 games, also still have to play Manchester City and Liverpool away, Manchester United and Spurs at home.
Hughton said of the points target for safety: "It's a very difficult question. I listen to programmes and pundits talking about what they think the numbers will be and it just varies. You have to look around that 40-point mark, only because that's what history tells us.
"At the moment I have no idea what it will be. We know we will have to pick up wins and probably points most people don't expect us to get.
"In the 11 games left we have to play five of the top six and we will probably have to get some sort of result in those games. I also think our home form is going to be vitally important to us."
Hughton has played down Albion's tough finish, which will now also include a rearranged visit to Manchester City from the week commencing April 16.
They could end up facing Manchester United and Spurs at home, then Liverpool away in the final week if Tottenham reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Hughton said: "A rescheduling affects both teams. Perhaps we'll look back that it has affected them a little bit more than us.
"We have been used in the Champioship in the last two seasons to playing more games and two games a week. You have to accept what it is and look forward to those challenges."
