GLENN MURRAY has hailed his unique partnership with unselfish Pascal Gross as they joined the Premier League elite.
Albion’s 11-goal top scorer says he has never had a sidekick quite like the creative German.
Gross produced his fourth assist of the season for Murray when he crossed for the winning goal in Sunday’s 2-1 success over Arsenal.
The bargain summer buy from Ingolstadt is enjoying a productive debut season in England and Murray can see why.
He told The Argus: “The more we play together, I understand him more.
“He’s just very composed on the ball, he never really gets flustered and he more often than not chooses the right option.
“He’s got a very different outlook on the game and I think that’s the way he has been brought up and his ethos with football.
“He’s more of a creator, much more than anyone else I’ve played with.
“He gets great enjoyment out of creating chances and goals for people as you can see by his stats.”
Gross set up a goal for Anthony Knockaert when Albion drew 1-1 at home to Everton, the side they visit on Saturday.
His total of eight assists is bettered only by four players from the Manchester giants – City trio Leroy Sane, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne plus United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Gross and Murray also figure among the Premier League leaders as a pair.
Cesar Azpilicueta has assisted six goals for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata and De Bruyne has set up Sergio Aguero five times for City.
They are the only link-ups which have been more profitable than the Gross-to-Murray goal combination.
Gross has also passed up chances to shoot so he could set up colleagues, most recently with a clever back heel to Knockaert against the Gunners.
Asked if he should develop a more greedy side to his game, Murray replied with a laugh: “I’m not sure about that!”
As well as his four assists for Murray, Gross has also set up Knockaert (twice), Tomer Hemed and Solly March.
