Albion's decision on the number of tickets for Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final away to Manchester United has been vindicated.
The Seagulls requested an allocation of 5,500 for the tie at Old Trafford (7.45pm).
Over 5,000 tickets have been sold and the club expect to sell out or come close to selling out their allocation.
They could have asked for 3,000 or 8,500 tickets for the game but decided the middle option was the right one to meet demand.
Chief executive Paul Barber said: "It's great that many Albion fans who wouldn't normally get tickets to an away match against one of the big six clubs will get an opportunity to do so, and, in many cases, to see the game with different generations of their family and groups of friends."
