Tim Krul says Albion missed an opportunity to reach the FA Cup semi-finals at Old Trafford tonight.

The Dutch keeper did not have as much to do as he has been used to in previous visits with former club Newcastle - but the Seagulls were still beaten 2-0 by Manchester United.

Krul told The Argus: "It's obviously not an easy fixture, but I thought we played really well, kept them at bay for long spells. It's just a shame we couldn't just nick one. I think we deserved it.

"We played some really good football and can take a lot of positives out of it. Saying that, if there was ever a night to progress to a semi-final of an FA Cup I think tonight was the night.

"I've come here a few times and been a lot busier. We defended well, it's just a bit of quality, bit of magic they've got. It's a really big shame, hard to take when you've got the possession, break the lines well, get into the right positions and it's just that final bit of fortune and quality we just lacked a bit."

United went through with a first half header by Romelu Lukaku from a Nemanja Matic cross and the impressive Matic's late header from an Ashley Young free-kick.

Krul said: "The first one he (Matic) hits it first time and it's in between me and Dunky. It's a good quality goal.

"The second one we were one short at the back post, so the organisation wasn't quite there. We should have and could have nicked one before that and I think then we would have had a really good go to go into extra-time or maybe nick another one."
