TIM KRUL will not consider his Albion future until they are safe from relegation.

The Dutch keeper’s opportunities have been limited by the form of No.1 Mathew Ryan since joining the Seagulls from Newcastle in the summer.

Krul, out of contract at the end of the season, made only his fifth appearance in the FA Cup quarter-final exit against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

He is yet to feature in the Premier League, but has faith in the Albion “project” under manager Chris Hughton.

Krul told The Argus: “Obviously when I came I was hoping to get a bit more (game time) maybe, but at the time I walked through the door Maty’s performances went up a level, so that is testament to him.

“The level we are training at with Ben Roberts (coach) every day is really high. He has been showing that in the games. I’ve been around long enough to see when a goalkeeper is playing well you take that. I’m 29, I’m back fit, I’m feeling better than I’ve ever done so I’m ready to play. I just have to be patient again.

“I had to be patient at the start of my career and you have to do that again now. But my chance will come. There’s a lot of years left.

“It’s an exciting project with Brighton. I’ve got until the end of the season so we’ll evaluate it when the club is safe. That is the main priority at the moment.

“I believe in the project. The gaffer is great – I had him at Newcastle – and the owners are backing him. The training ground and everything is there to grow and make steps again. Performances like that (at Old Trafford) you can definitely see we can take on the best clubs in the world. That’s massive for me as well.

“Obviously, on a personal level if there is a club out there that maybe offers you a number one you maybe have to consider it, but that’s not my priority at the moment. It’s getting safe first, then we will look what’s out there.”

Ryan will continue his ever-present record in the Premier League in crucial home games back-to-back after international duty with Australia.

Krul believes Albion’s encouraging performance against United will stand them in good stead.

He said: “Looking at this performance, for sure, if we play likes this against Leicester and Huddersfield I think we will play them off the field.”
