Albion have finished 15th in their return to the top-flight.
They ended their fifth campaign among the elite, and first of the Premier League era, with a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool today.
West Ham’s 3-1 win over Everton lifted them just above the Seagulls.
But Chris Hughton’s men end the campaign seven points clear of the drop zone.
Albion fans defiantly chanted “We are staying up” as their side were outclassed at Anfield.
Mo Salah, Dejan Lovren, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson were all on target.
The margin would have been worse without several fine saves from Mathew Ryan, including a scarcely believable effort from Salah at 1-0.
