Albion give chance to giant goalkeeper

Albion have handed towering former Swindon goalkeeper Peter Brezovan a week-long trial.

The 6ft 6ins Slovakian has been with Dagenham and Redbridge on the same basis.

Brezovan played for Swindon when Albion boss Gus Poyet was assistant manager to Dennis Wise.

Interesting... He seems to have the same problem with our reserve keeper as the rest of us...

Good news though. Big, hopefully has presence, might save a few shots too.

lol - you need more than a giant to stop them leaky goals. The goal is so big for the albion defence to handle, i hear that they are asking Gus for a hockey goal to use in training.

Kuipers
Smith
Pelling
Walker

Is four goalkeepers not enough? Most team perfectly with just two!

Agree, a tall unwanted goalkeeper to play with a number of tall defenders hardly the recipe for success.
We require a talented goalkeeper to back up Kuipers, height is not necessary.Manchester City with all the cash in the world have one of the best goalkeepers in the country,
and he is hardly tall.

But most goalkeepers are tall whats the problem, or are you just moaning cos its a day ending in Y..

Come on...anything is better than what we have got!

G P knows him already and wants him, so he cannot be bad..Give the lad a chance..

If he plays as well as the 'non -league' keeper that I saw on TV against Leeds yesterday, I would be well pleased

That 'non-league' keeper is Lee Harper. He grew up in Sussex, in a little village called Partridge Green. and he is only one match away from managing a team at Old Trafford.
That would have been a nice cup draw

two youth players, pelling is to small, walker cant get in youth side! smith is a nightmare , and kuipers will probably get injured again.. as wombat says, we need a keeper who shouts and saves shots! on another matter, not once did i hear elphick or virgo speak! to anyone! as i said yesterday, end of jan none of the back 5 from saturday will play.

quick question is the youth system about to be extinct? with no player coming through in last 3and a half years, and nothing remotely likely for two more years, will the albion not have a youth player in starting 11 soon? next 5 weeks is "play for your career time for elphick cox and virgo.. think taxi has its meter on for elabd!

Sorry but El-Abd has had his taxi sent away because he's been comfortably our best, most comitted defender this season.

The taxi for Virgo is most likely with Elphick to be given a chance in Jan beside a proper centre-back.

As for Cox, he'll stick around. Managers rate him. Always have and probably always will.

El-Abd is our most versatile player now that Virgo has thrown his toys out of the pram and says he only wants to play as a central defender.
he will put in a shift anywere on the park.We all know that left back is not his best position but he is a capable occupant of the spot at the moment. As for Cox he is also comitted to the cause and is able to alter the course of a game although he does dissapear sometimes.

liverpool have produced a dozen quality players, in recent years, arsenal have a dozen in there squad, chelsea, have a few playing on loan in premiership, and championship, as for walker he was on bench for youth as godfrey played... the youth system cant produce championship players so the system is dead.. or has bloom invested 90 million to keep some players happy.. not slagging it at all.. but its failing.. thats a question.. where do i slag it off in the above? my point is the only 4 youth players in squad are all playing for there jobs! thats all.

fraser rents loft? gatting, robinson.. the whole of the football world missed the chance of signing these on a free! as for the 7th place that season was a rubbish division.. and wilkins played his best team week in week out during the run in! against sides playing fringe players, yes carlton cole, premiership, and has played for england! jack cork, england under 17, 19 captain, chelsea turned down 750k from wolves, he is one for the future, lets talk in summer when we wont have a youth product here, thats because we play centre of excellence standard... rather than academy. its not the coaching staffs fault but knights talking spin that said "the youth will be the corner stone at falmer.. i dont think one of the current players will be here for that..

its not personal, my point is this, the game in recent seasons has moved on, centre of excellence dont produce the quality, pre-season friendlies are just that, very often the academy clubs will play trialists, or lower age lads, would you agree the elphicks and lynch were the best year to date? so when that side played saints they got stuffed 8-1 .. that side did not include walcott, barry and allana.. they had lad who the albion will come up against soon called jake thomson, he scored 4 that day in a hour, and subbed because elphick and co were nearly crying! i was there.. look at youth last season..loaned out to whitehawk.. that my old mate is a insult to the players.. why is it crawley take academy loans, but not the albion? same as eastbourne.. this club have failed for 4 years, the boys would be much better player if they played academy.. this is fact.. the game has moved on..

mark 62 says...
6:05pm Fri 4 Dec 09

a select few? 8 of 15 from u16. then 4 of those 8 get another year, the quality is not there to push the boys, in 18 months time we want to be a championship club, how is the youth going to get a game.. or progress to the first team? its not going to happen, i wish your lad all the best, but look at the last 30 boys taken on over last 4 years.. where are they? lewes, sutton, burgess hill.. that says it all. i will be surprised if more than 1 youth players will be in the squad for next season.. explain that?

a select few? 8 of 15 from u16. then 4 of those 8 get another year, the quality is not there to push the boys, in 18 months time we want to be a championship club, how is the youth going to get a game.. or progress to the first team? its not going to happen, i wish your lad all the best, but look at the last 30 boys taken on over last 4 years.. where are they? lewes, sutton, burgess hill.. that says it all. i will be surprised if more than 1 youth players will be in the squad for next season.. explain that?
cook ,brinkhurst, barker, dunk, smith quote me one of them will play first team footy for the albion next year like i say one maybe 2 will make it and forgot to say walker the keeper bit young to put him out early but a hot prospect, was not on the bench broken wrist, is back for northampton youth cup game on monday, third round further than the winners last year whether his fully fit i dont know but get behind them.

i hope they win monday, from what i have heard, brinkhurst is quick, but has his head down, cook to slow, barker seems to score his share of goals, but the step up is huge, robinson, gatting and gargan all scored 20 plus in there final youth year, then could not do itfor first team, walker has massive advantage over lots of recent keepers in him actually being big enough.. pelling is to small.
