Albion boss Gus Poyet has teamed up again with towering Slovakian Peter Brezovan.

Poyet has handed a trial to the former Swindon goalkeeper, who is looking for a new club.

Brezovan played for Swindon when Poyet was Dennis Wise’s No. 2 at the Wiltshire outfit.

He is a free agent after Swindon released him at the end of last season on the expiry of a two-year deal.

Poyet said: “He will be with us for a week and after that we will see. He was fantastic for us at Swindon. He is very big and normally quite calm.”

Brezovan, 30 next week, has already had trials since the summer with Bristol City, Crewe and Dagenham and Redbridge.

He made 66 league appearances in three seasons at Swindon and his arrival raises a question mark over the future of second choice Graeme Smith.

The Glaswegian, signed in the summer from Motherwell on a Bosman by former manager Russell Slade, has started the last three matches under Poyet, with regular No. 1 Michel Kuipers sidelined by a groin injury.

Albion conceded nine goals against Leeds, Norwich and Rushden and Diamonds. Kuipers is close to making a comeback and could even return against second-placed Charlton at Withdean tonight.

Glenn Murray is likely to resume his partnership with Nicky Forster after he was banned for the FA Cup win against Rushden.

Andrew Whing, James Tunnicliffe, Gary Dicker and Dean Cox, who were all rested from the starting line-up on Saturday, are also expected to return.
