Gus Poyet has warned Albion they will have to combat Swindon’s power game to claim a second successive Withdean victory.

The manager is particularly mindful of the threat posed by the prolific forward partnership of Billy Paynter and Charlie Austin.

Poyet, a spectator at Swindon’s 2-1 defeat at MK Dons on Tuesday, said: “They are very, very powerful. They play their own game, it doesn’t matter too much what the opposition does.

“They know their strengths and they try to play that way all day. It doesn’t matter about the result, if they are winning or losing, you know how powerful they are up front especially and how they are going to make you pay attention to them.

“If you relax for a second you know you’ve got a massive problem and they are going to score a goal. It’s another game where we have to be spot-on and then, of course, play our game and try to cause them problems.”

Danny Wilson is expecting a tough test for his Swindon side, as they try to keep hold of a top six spot after back-to-back defeats.

The former Albion midfielder said: “Gus is turning their fortunes around. We said when they were down at the bottom of the league that they weren’t the worst team in this division by a country mile.

“They are a good side with quality individuals and have started to gel together.”
