Gus Poyet was left to rue missed chances as Albion went down 1-0 at home to Swindon Town.
Charlie Austin scored the only goal of the game with 21 minutes remaining.
Poyet said: “It was a typical game where whoever scored the goal was going to win it. There were not going to be too many goals in the game.
“We didn't hit the target enough. We had great opportunities to hit the target at least and we missed it completely.
“When you have your moments in the game you have to score.”
Albion are at home to Brentford on Tuesday.

Once again Poyet's tactical nouse and man management skills- the Forster saga plainly rumbles on - are called into question.
We need a quality forward who can score 20-25 goals a season. Murray is a 10-15 man - not good enough. Sir Nicky is plainly near the end of his time at the club and Holroyd is a lightweight who will not make the grade at this level. Leave Dickinson and Davies where they are, they do not have the required quality.

It is amazing how you pathetic moaners come out of the woodwork in an instant. Just have a bit of patience for god sake, you cannot put a team together mid season and quite frankly, in your eyes, he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Tactically 4-5-1 has totally suited the team in the last few weeks (home and away) and against a top 6 team it was certainly worth perservering with (Swindon are not 25 points ahead of us for no reason). It was overall a good performance yesterday - excellent first half followed by fairly average second half (when we still created at least two good chances). Since the game I had read on this website criticism of Calderon (who as Poyet said was outstanding), Painter (continuing to demonstrate to the previous occupants what being a left back is all about) and Murray (who seems to go from hero to villain and back again week by week depending on whether he has scored a goal or not). The whole squad is in transition and there will be an awful lot of change in the summer. Further criticism of Poyet's "tactical nous" is frankly absurd - if he (or somebody of equivalent stature) had not arrived at the club we would still have been shipping 3 or 4 goals every week and would still be in the bottom 4. He has made best use of what he has at the club and added players when able to to fill the real weaknesses at the club - i.e. both full back positions and left wing. What he tried yesterday in terms of the substitutions didn't really work but that's the way it goes. You cannot criticise him for not trying something different. I suppose on Tuesday we will have a nice solid home win and the number of posts will suddenly reduce by half. You do get the impression some people on here want us to lose games as it gives them something to moan about.

The same description could be applied to this website of late. Where have all the posters gone? The intelligent and informative contributions that appeared regularly, until very recently, are conspicuous by their absence. Have all the moaners finally driven away the few who make this site worthwhile? Murray has 12 from 20 starts and six substitute appearances so far this season. 12 from 22 and 5 substitute appearances last season. A bit better than a goal every other game, about right to hit 20+ a season, if he can stay fit. If you take into consideration that for most of last season he didn't want to be here, played more than a few games in need of a hernia op and the team around him was severely underperforming then I think, on goals, he is definitely worth his salt.

When we first arrived at Withdean it was labbelled a fortress, we were practically unbeatable there. I'm looking forward to Falmer but I do wish people would stop being so ungreatful that we still have the chance to watch the Albion play their football. We should be able to win anywhere, and Gus's task next season is to win promotion. Therefore the board and Gus must feel that winning at the Withdean is a possibility unless he intedns to win the league with away form alonefretlessbass wrote: Once again Poyet's tactical nouse and man management skills- the Forster saga plainly rumbles on - are called into question.
