Superstitious Glenn Murray reckons a change of footwear might have helped him enjoy a change of fortune at Withdean.
The Seagulls striker broke his 12-month home goal famine to send his side towards their win over Brentford.
He revealed: “I changed my shin pads and my boots so everything was new. I had to change something and it worked.
“They were pretty worn out but, yes, it was a bit of a superstition thing as well.
“Something had to change here, didn’t it?
“There were a few other things I did but they don’t need to be mentioned!”
Murray’s magical moment came as he headed in a superb Elliott Bennett free-kick.
He admitted: “I didn’t know much about it. I just got my head on it and got clattered, I think by the keeper.
“I looked up and saw the ball in the net, which was quite a relief.”
Albion chairman Tony Bloom is at the Cheltenham Festival today to watch his horse, Little Josh, run in the 2.40.
