Albion land Spanish striker

Albion today signed Spanish striker Fran Sandaza on a one-year deal.

The 25-year-old, who started his career with Valencia, joined Scottish Premier League club Dundee United in 2008 and scored 11 goals in 38 appearances for the Tannadice club.

Sandaza was not signed in time to play in tonight's JP Trophy tie against Leyton Orient.

Great! Another more experienced player added to our front line.

But has he changed nationality? "...former Spanish striker"?!

Not the 'big name' everyone was hoping for, but we could do a lot worse. Quite excited about this signing, even though i hadn't heard of him.

Just come across this chant:
.
"He plays on the left, he plays on the ri-i-ight, Fran Sandaza, Makes Messi Look ****!"

I saw this guy play against St Mirren last season - he looked a handfull - I think with Bennet and LuaLua providing the ammo this guy will put them away - have to go 4-4-2 and play Murray along side him - not the big name everybody was looking for but never the less a striker than can handle himself and has SPL experience - good luck Franny boy!! - well done Gus!!

Looks to me as if he will be a very good signing if he stays fit. Has struggled with injuries but hopefully the double hernia op will have sorted him out and he can fulfill his potential with us.

I think he is a quality player, his goals will depend on service quality, he will certainly get that.

I'm so glad we haven't gone for one of the names that have been doing the rounds. The thought of Kuqi playing for us wasn't filling me with excitement. This guy seems to fit the bill and i hope he can live up to his reputation. Seems like a great signing

If I remember rightly Calderon wasn't a big name either

Seems like a good signing.

Let's get it right this time, if he is half decent and performing well extend his contract early! We do not want another Caldy episode!

Got to be worth a chance, Gus does not seem the type just to sign for the sake of it so as has been said before we must trust his judgment.
And as mentioned in previous post Caldi was a blank page to most of us now he also will have someone to talk to lol!!

Sandaza joined Valencia in 2002 and played in the Primera Liga outfit's reserve team, where – despite scoring 23 goals during the 2007–08 season – he considered leaving full-time football to become a police officer. Instead he went to Dundee... 23 goals sounds okay to me.

If he has anything to offer at our level then he should be able to find the net with the speedy service coming from the wings.
We have to hope the squad will gain promotion but on paper we dont appear to be front runners.

Thank you TB for appointing Gus & Tanno as most of the players would not be here without their influence.

Never heard of him but the pedigree seems to be there. Its good that our two front men have got some serious competition now to keep them on their toes. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Lualua and Bennett represent the two most potent wide men in our division. Very, very exciting for us Seagulls.

I wonder what that funny gent from Swindon would say who was carping on last night? What a card.

Sandaza may not be Geoffrey Durham (aka great soprendo) - but any spanish magician on a free willl do for me.

11 career 1st team goals for a striker approaching 26 years old and wanted to give it up and become a policeman - he is hardly Alan Shearer
