Dunk in the running for award

Albion defender Lewis Dunk has been shortlisted for the Football League young player of the year award.

The promising centre half is competing with two wingers for the prize, Crystal Palace's Wilfred Zaha and Matt Phillips of Blackpool.

The Argus revealed earlier this month that Albion boss Gus Poyet has been shortlisted for the outstanding managerial achievement award.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London the weekend before Albion's March 17 visit to Blackpool, when Dunk and Phillips will be on opposite sides.

The fixture has been confirmed after the Seagulls lost at Liverpool and Blackpool at Everton in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Dunk is vying with Adam El-Abd to partner captain Gordon Greer at Hull tonight, with Cup tied West Brom loanees Gonzaloa Jara Reyes and Sam Mattock poised to return to the fullback roles.

Lucky we are not counting on the Argus to keep us up to date on tonights game, there are eight stories on this page and only one about Gus weilding an axe tonight, so if you see him stear clear.

He has done well since coming in this season, but i think its time for a rest before his confidence gets severly dented, as the last two performances were dire in the millwall game he was awful, and he wasnt a lot better in liverpool game, time for the rock to come for few games....

agree about Millwall his passing was pretty shocking but disagree about Liverpool, thought he was alright (bar the OG) especially considering what he was up against

If Adam gets the nod this evening, I hope Gus has warned him about trying to exchange shirts before the final whistle.

Always the way mate! I assume Rhodes is a reference to Greece, so you too, have to rely on the website? But at least you can read it in the warm!
The stuff that's placed on the site seems to overlook the fact we actually play the odd game or two. Mentioned it before but there have been very few occasions when a match has been previewed on here with anything other than, Gus says its "complicated"..
'Dear Argus, we have a game tonight, for those of us outside the region, it would have been nice to have had it previewed.' Thank you (again)
P.S. we play Ipswich on Saturday.

No offence Sarah but have you ever tried buying the Argus on Rhodes Island, Greece. As stated above if you live outside the Argus catchment area you have to rely on the internet for information on up coming games.

No Argus in Greece?
Or am I thinking of Argus Panoptes, the multi-eyed, and ever-watchful guardian of the heifer nymph 'Lo', (seduced by Zeus, who changed her into a heifer to escape detection), and enlisted by Zeus's wife Hera to 'keep an eye on her'?

Sorry guys, nothing is for free in this world - and yet you already get a lot of info for free. I'm afraid you cannot expect us to put everything that is in the paper on the website. That would be commercial suicide.

Andy,

I like others have to rely on whats put on the internet to get the reduced versions of whats available in the paper and I appreciate that fact.

Maybe the Argus could look into an online subscription much like our local Tulsa World does which gives which will then give full access to the content in the paper.

Win win for all :)

Andy,
I think we completely understand that! We're not Portslade or Whitehawk residents who are simply too idle or too tight to go to the newsagent, but people living away from the area for who this is a major source of Albion material. So its merely that a better balance of material for those of us not able to buy a copy would be appreciated. There is rarely any stuff on line with the players and, as discussed last night, the preview material for Hull in that regard, was lacking and has been, in my opinion, for a number of matches. No one is asking you to replicate the whole paper, merely show a little more regard for those of us who now live away from the region.
Thanks.

Do you not regard our live twitter feeds throughout every game, team news, post-match report and reaction from the manager as extensive online coverage?

Missing the point mate. We've been talking about pre-match and this platform, not Twitter. From Tuesday at 9am until the "Follow Our Team at the KC" message, I make it 6 stories uploaded and only one on the game. Not saying the others weren't relevant but what we were saying is the odd piece from a player; line from Razak pre-debut if you knew he was playing, or the skipper rallying the troops after Sunday, would be nice. That's all. Oh, and don't be so defensive!
