Razak handed Albion debut

Albion have handed on-loan midfielder Abdul Razak a debut tonight – and his Man City mate Gai Assulin is on the bench.

Razak comes into the Seagulls side at Hull City as one of four changes to the line-up which kicked off at Anfield on Sunday.

As expected, full-backs Gonzalo Jara Reyes and Joe Mattock return having been cup-tied for the Anfield clash.

Jara Reyes replaces Inigo Calderon while Mattock comes in for Lewis Dunk, with Adam El-Abd switching from left-back to a central berth in a bid to combat Hull's fluid attacking set-up.

The other change is in attack where Craig Mackail-Smith comes in for Sam Vokes, who is part of an attack-minded bench.

Assulin, the former Barcelona B left winger, will hope to get playing time as he kicks off what is initially a month on loan with the Seagulls.

Hull have not lost, or even conceded a goal, in their last five Championship games.

They make one change to the side, playing 4-2-3-1, which drew 0-0 at Birmingham City last time out.

Cameron Stewart, one of the wider players in the line of three attacking from deep, comes in for Aaron Mclean.

Robert Koren is the Tigers' dangerman playing just off main striker Matty Fryatt.

Hull: Mannone; Rosenior, Chester, Hobbs, Dawson; McKenna, Evans; Stewart, Koren, Brady; Fryatt. Subs: Gulacsi, Cairney, King, Dudgeon, Mclean.

Albion: Brezovan; Jara Reyes, Greer, El-Abd, Mattock; Bridcutt, Navarro, Razak; LuaLua, Barnes, Mackail-Smith. Subs: Ankergren, Calderon, Assulin, Vokes, Buckley.

Great to see El Abd in center of defence. He's a rock there.

Can't believe Navarro has retained his place after watching him perform (or rather not perform) at Anfield on Sunday. He just isn't good enough for this level. Why no Sparrow after serving his three-match ban? Is he injured?

Another game without CMS and Vokes starting together. Strange how we all thought CMS needed a big guy to help, and since we've got the big guy, they hardly ever play together! Still, GP's got most things right over the last couple of years. Time will tell.

If the criteria for selection was a decent performance against Liverpool, you'd be looking at a very different starting 11.

Navs is one of those guys who does a lot of work that goes unnoticed, same as Barnes to an extent. Before Liverpool, he'd scored the winner at Leicester, and had the initial shot for the first equaliser against Millwall.

I'm quite happy for Gus to decide if he is "good enough for this level"...

Must be. Long time since I noticed it. But it's only an opinion.

Stats at half time seem to indicate we are at least shooting at the right end this game !

Got to agree with Bruce b it,s been a very long time since I,ve seen him do anything he,s taken up space on the park that he shouldn,t be on to say he,s like Barnes is an insult to Barnes he actually does do good work off the ball Navarro,s positioning is not better than school boy stuff I believe in Gus but don,t see what he sees in Navarro

I refer you to the middle paragraph in my quote above, as an example of him doing something, (two things in fact).

Navarro scored the winner at Leeds not Leicester, Buckley got the winner at Leicester.
