Barnes: No slip-ups

Bad memory: Coventry send Albion to defeat on New Year's Eve Bad memory: Coventry send Albion to defeat on New Year's Eve

Ashley Barnes has urged his Albion colleagues to raise their game against the bottom team.

The Seagulls go to Doncaster on Saturday aiming for a tenth Championship game without defeat.

They have not lost in the league since a New Year’s Eve reverse at Coventry, who were bottom of the table at the time.

Despite signing several big names, Doncaster now lie 24th, although they led 2-0 at Leeds recently.

Barnes, Albion’s two-goal star against Ipswich last Saturday, said: “As long as we go with the right mindset we have a great chance.

“The fact they are bottom of the league means we have got to be even more careful because they are playing for their lives. We’re safe but we want to be in the play-offs, we are playing for that.”

Victory would take Albion into the play-off places for the first time in three months, although they might then be displaced when Cardiff play West Ham on Sunday.

Barnes added: “My target is to get as many goals as possible and help us achieve the play-offs.

“We are not getting ahead of ourselves but we want to give it a good crack and see how far we can go.”
