True, nothing has changed. We were told we needed 3 wins from our last 6 games and now it's 3 wins from our last 4. It's still attainable on last nights performance which was very good and positive. So much more entertaining to see us going at teams, putting their back line under pressure and creating chances. Vincente was great, different class to anyone else, but still somehow missed the best chance of the first half from 3 yards. No surprise about the penalty miss and I think it was a mistake for Barnes to take it. Like me, 20,000 spectators knew where the penalty was going because he's hit everyone in the same place for the last 3 years. The GK had done his homework which is why Barnes needs to add another string to his bow or someone else should have taken it. Thoroughly enjoyed the Roberts/El Abd tussle. Great throughout. A good, robust encounter. JR is a good centre forward and El Abd matched him blow for blow and deserved his MoM award. Why then does he do his Poleaxed routine, writhing around on the floor after a little "coming together" near the end. He wasn't hurt, he was just trying to get JR sent-off, like he did Lambert. Dont spoil your contributions Adam. If you hand out the knocks and bangs, you have to expect to take some too. You lose everyones respect with these antics. Right now, we need a break in front of goal. The forwards looking a bit shy in front of goal, Buckley electing to pass across the box when he has a clear shot on goal, CMS no threat in the box at all. Dont know what the position with Noone is ? Would like to see him in the side, I think he offers more than KLL. Also not sure where Mattock was last night. Would have preferred him to Reyes who still concedes too many free kicks for my liking and is a poor passer of the ball. Hope he's back on Saturday. West Ham alsosuffering a loss of confidence at home, so maybe we can capitalise. They are nowhere near as good as Saints or Reading and we can beat them if we approach the game in the same way we approached last night's game. Come on guys, believe you can do it and you will.
Concise and insighful summary fratsomrover. Still all to play for. Hope the players see it that way and do the business at WH at the w/e."

Greer: Nothing has changed

Gordon Greer insists nothing has changed in the play-off race – despite cruel defeat for Albion last night.

The Seagulls skipper felt his side deserved more against title-chasing Reading but has set his sights on earning three more wins from the remaining fixtures.

He said: “I don’t think it really changes that much because of Monday’s results (for Albion’s rivals).

“It would have been great to have got the three points but we just need to win as many games as possible and see where it takes us.”

Greer echoed his manager Gus Poyet’s belief that Albion lost despite a good performance.

He added: “We played well. The boys are really disappointed not to get three points. It was just one of those nights.”

Midfielder Alan Navarro added: “We tried everything to win the game and we just needed something to fall for us.

“We can’t let it affect us, though. We have got four massive games left. We just need to brush ourselves down and go again at West Ham on Saturday.”
