For me it's been a great season and gus and the team have done a brilliant job but then tb has also had a lot to do with that..however there have been some odd selections, especially recently...I think also that too many loanees ruins the morale some what, I mean JFC must wonder what he's got to do to be in the squad. He was outstanding in the few games he played..for me a midfield of Vicente, JFC, Bridcutt and a winger in form is the way forward and we must also utilise CMS better. Next season gus MUST keep Vicente, and either trust in CMS and play the team round him or replace him with a proven goal scorer at this level, such as a Roberts or a Phillips, maybe Zamora if QPR come down (dreaming now). Out of the loanees I think only Mattock would benefit our squad. With a few additionals quality additions I think we have a chance of promotion next season.. Can't help feeling tho that this was a great opportunity! Am really pleased however that we have held our own and that finally Brighton FC has a great future..Lastly and to reiterate Young players such as JFC need to be given a extended chance.. Look at young ince and Matt philips at Blackpool!! Really feel he could be worth a fortune in the future..well done Albion..good days are here again and hopefully to stay!!
Totally agree, I would have liked to have seen Toby given a go before we desperately borrowed BDB, we may have never needed to look elsewhere and a solution could have been under our noses. He always looks like he will make things happen. That was the time of the season to experiment with our dev players JFC included."

Mattock ready for Albion return

Marcos Painter was back at left-back at Upton Park on Saturday Marcos Painter was back at left-back at Upton Park on Saturday

Joe Mattock is back in contention for Albion’s penultimate home game of the season against Watford tomorrow night.

The left-back on loan from West Brom missed last weeks’s Amex defeat against Reading with a testicular infection.

He was not considered for Saturday’s hiding at West Ham after taking part in only one training session. Boss Gus Poyet said: “I think Joe is going to be ready for Tuesday. He trained only once so we kept him out.”

Will Buckley and Sam Vokes, surprise absentees from the 16-man squad at Upton Park, could also feature.

Albion have slipped to eighth, five points outside the play-offs with an inferior goal difference to sixth-placed Cardiff with three games left.

Poyet said: “For us it’s very easy now. We need to win the next three. If we play like Tuesday we’ve got a great chance, if we play like Saturday we’ve got no chance.”
