Albion go first class in Spain
5:00pm Tuesday 8th May 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Gus Poyet is taking his team to Jerez
Albion have been told they will tread in the footsteps of the world’s greatest players when they spend a week of pre-season in southern Spain.
The Seagulls will be in Jerez from July 22 to 29 and are likely to play two matches as part of their build-up to Championship action.
They have switched their summer training camp from the Algarve – and moved up a level in the view of former Albion skipper Gary Hobson, who helps plan their summer trips.
Hobson said: “This place offers unbelievably good grass pitches, gym, indoor pools. It has been host to Real Madrid, Barcelona, the Spanish national team.
“It has always had top sides going there – Premier League teams pre- season and mid-season camps.
“Tottenham were there two years ago. Real Betis use it every year.”
Hobson says there will be no distractions for Gus Poyet and his men.
He added: “There’s not a lot to do there, other than play football.
“You’re not that close to the coast, it is certainly not a holiday destination.
“There’s a championship golf course there and that’s about it.
“It’s the warmest part of Spain so they will be training early and late.
“They will be resting during the peak heat of the day or maybe doing pool or gym sessions, keeping out of the sun.
“In terms of facilities, it’s a big step up from last year in my opinion.
“The accommodation might be of a similar level but in terms of a footballing venue, these are pitches you walk on and think ‘I can’t wait to get out here and play’.”
Albion will be playing Cardiff City again next season after the Bluebirds crashed out of the play-off semi-finals, 5-0 on aggregate to West Ham.

cantona once said the seagulls follow the trawler to eat the fish offal the sailors were throwing overboard, alluding to the press feeding off the scraps of information they published about football. and then there's the parasites that feed of the seagull's droppings, and some of them are relentless and have huge ego's, with less brain cells than an amoeba
But is there any chance you could include the odd capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, and learn where and when to use commas and apostrophes?
And, ironically, I think you'll find it's 'fewer' brain cells, not 'less'.
Thanks,

Ehab Allam has said he and his father had every right to be disappointed the Tigers had failed to finish in the play-offs this season due to the club's £17million wage bill.
He has also said he would have sanctioned the signing of striker Billy Sharp, who was available in January and later joined Southampton for £1.8million, at a cost of between £30-40,000 a week until the end of the season.
Now You know what we are up against.

It is a dump and stinks of serious cost cutting.
This means looking at relegation around christmas time, and Gus being on the bus out.

I can't believe that they double booked at La Manga and refused to pay the going rate at Campoamor. So they ended up in Jerez?????

In it's first year benefactors can only put £6m max into the equation, then it reduces from there the following campaign.
Ultimately, clubs will need to fund themselves from gate results, TV income, merchandise, catering, corporate, the various sponsorship avenues and minimal shareholder revenue generation from here on in.
In this regard The Albion are going to be VERY well placed, particularly at Championship level.
