Now Swans look at Laudrup

Still interest: But Albion are relaxed about reports Swansea like their manager Still interest: But Albion are relaxed about reports Swansea like their manager

Swansea were last night believed to be turning their attention to former Denmark striker Michael Laudrup in their quest for a new manager.

But Gus Poyet remains in their thoughts.

Swansea have been turned down by their former assistant boss Graeme Jones, now at Wigan, who at one stage looked certain to get the job.

Albion are relaxed about reports from West Glamorgan suggesting Swans are keen on their manager.

Meanwhile Poyet has backed the Football League’s return to seven substitutes next season, saying: “For me the key benefit is when it comes to injuries and suspensions.

“With seven subs it’s less likely players will be sat in the stand one match and expected to start the next game.”

Albion "relaxed" about an approach from Swansea? Probably because they know they won't pay 3m compo or if they do it'll come in very handy LOL

Football is a crazy game but it's not that crazy. Why on earth would Gus go to Swansea? Answer, he wouldn't. More concerned about vacancy in east anglia but neither are enough to prise him away from his current Mission Possible (this message will self destruct in 5 seconds...)

NO not a moaning but thought this was a BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION site.
Would prefer to read important news about the club and not speculation that is at it's best "Just something to write".
No it must be difficult in the off season to write or even find stories and I appreciate the efforts of both Andy and Brian but when you read on SKYSPORTS that this club or that club is signing or selling and read very little about B&HA it does get a little frustrating.

There were fresh concerns regarding Gus being wanted yet again, but it appears that a manager has been promoted from within the club. Phew!

Isn't this speculation more appropriate to The Rumour Mill (no update since 24th May)? Absolutely no factual information in this story other than that Gus is happy with having 7 subs (which we were already aware of a year ago).

Transfer activity will kick in soon.
I wouldn't make a move to the Albion just yet, with Gus being linked to just about every vacancy.

It is the silly season at the moment, but rumours will occur like:-

Newcastle after Dunk.

Bristol City, Leeds & Huddersfield after Caldie.

Mattock agreed terms with Derby.

Kane, Aluko, Moore,Judge Bostwick & McFadzean all on their way in.

They are just rumours, no doubt someone will come up with other news and names. Can't think anything will happen until Gus is back from his hols.

Why are people complaining about this story?? its no different to what you see on daily mail website and it happens with footballl. I hope Guys stays but I think some Albion fans are getting a bit carried away, if Swansea or Villa did come knocking then I do think Gus would consider them, he's made it clear that he wants to manager in the Premier League and has also made it clear that this might not be with BHA. If Gus was adamant he wasnt going to leave surely he would have come out and said it by now to put everyone's minds at rest?

Of course Gus would consider the Swansea job if it was offered to him. In terms of style of football he would be the perfect fit for Swansea. However, he may also consider that last season is probably as good as it can get for Swansea. There is probably still more kudos, career wise in getting Brighton promoted rather than struggling down the lower regions of the Premier League with Swansea. Said for a long time, the most important appointment is the manager we choose after Gus.

Incidentally there is a story on the official website saying that CMS is on his way to Chessington....

not sure the quality of the story says more than we already know.. I see two others have been offered handshake cash to go, Bragg and another, club are looking to appoint a academy manager in next few months once planning is done and dusted in Lancing.. Steve Gatting is the odds on fav.

Far more likely mileage in the GP's departure theory when Harry "do you a deal" leaves Tottenham which seems a growing possibility.

From track record, you cannot think in terms of any loyalty from our manager, viz Swindon, Leeds. It's probably part and parcel of his contract, anyway.

Curbishley would come here and do a decent job.

I see Malky McKay has said "thanks, but no thanks" to Norwich, he is committed long term to Cardiff, wouldn't it be nice if Poyet said the same about the Albion, never does tho, likes to keep everyone guessing.

Until such time as another club makes an approach, why should Gus say anything? He has made his position clear time and again. And of course, nobody should ever say 'never', because you never know what is around the corner.
He has already made it clear that he wants to stay at Brighton, and with the developments going on here, he has a chance to really make his name. Whereas with Swansea and Norwich he would be on a hiding to nothing. Be successful, and that's just because the previous incumbents put the team together and the right infrastructure in place. Fail and that's his reputation shot to pieces. I am sure Gus sees his future here at least for a couple more seasons, and hopefully beyond, until BHA is firmly established in the Prem, 'cos that's where the club is heading, I'm more and more convinced of it.

Maybe it would. But does that mean Gus has to distance himself from every premiership job that becomes available. I understand the connection between Malky McKay and Norwich, but isn't it a bit arrogant of him when he's not even been approached, likewise Gus. Pure speculation to fill in a bit of newspaper space.

Yeah the rumour quote;

Joe Mattock has already accepted Derby Countys Contract terms.Plus Gus Poyet will be gone.

Enjoy the rumour sites but take them with a pinch of salt as they have their lipstick wearing trolls as well, possibly even the same ones we get on here.

Cliff Richard can't sing anymore and was given too much time. Same with Paul McCartney and apart from Lenny Henry and Rolf Harris all the comperes jokes fell flat. Some problems with sound But apart from that the rest of the concert was great

You're kidding!! I'll grant you Cliff covered up his flat singing by his polished movement and professionalism but he can't hit the notes anymore. I cringed every time the "funny men" tried to be funny and instead of being funny they were dispespectful to Royalty without realising it. Charles said as much at the end. Lenny Henry cracked a joke about Charles which actually was funny and Charles and the rest laughed and his joke about the Queen missing Tom Jones was also funny. Wotsisname in the Beefeater outfit was funny. But the rest of the comics embarrassed themselves and literally died on stage

Their ground holds 20,500 so their budget is going to be small. With the new FFP rules gradually coming into force clubs can't keep running up debts. The big question is can Swansea sustain Premiership Status.

When are people going to use their brains. No big club with discerning owners are going to come in for Gus. He's done great to change our style of play and get us up as Champions of Div 1 but reality is that it is he who does not believe he is good enough for Premier League that's why he projected that onto his players last season and told them that THEY weren't good enough and from that moment we were dead in the water as far as getting promotion. When he made those comments we were sitting in 3rd place! As you think So it will be!!! His outbursts on Talk Sport on the Suarez incident, go online and listen to it - not the type of calm consideration I like in a leader, constant berating of officials which filters down to the players, petulant abandoning the dugout at Burnley - none of these things will have endeared him to any really top bosses. So relax - let's see what happens this year. Let him prove himself as an IMPROVER of players - not simply a buyer of players and a complainer of 'not big enough budget'! Gus knows he's a lucky man!!!

Literally, Pte?!! How tragic and unexpected! ;0)

On the subject of aging singers there are a number who have lost it big time:

Dylan, McCartney, Brian Wilson, Paul Simon, Cliff Richard, Alice Cooper, Annie Lennox (to a lesser extent), Bassey (to a lesser extent) and the now late James Brown was the worst ofthe lot at the end of his time. Shame but such is life.

There's some cracking newer voice talent out there but doesn't often get the profile of those former greats listed.
