  • "Regarding the squad for this coming season. I actually think that at the moment we are probably saving on the wage bill from last year. Yes we have signed a very good right back and goalkeeper but when you consider they were both free and that their wages will have been more than covered by those released then id suggest we still have a very good budget moving into July. If we do have a fund to actually spend on a teansfer fee then i for one wouldnt be adverse to seeing a few deals like Danny Murphy's at Blackburn, yes his wage is high but when you consider the transfer fee saved i think he represents a pretty sound bet. Anyway Im sure the management team have hought of all of this."

Netting Vicente 'won't be easy'

Wanted man: Vicente Wanted man: Vicente

The club president hoping to take Vicente back to Spain has warned fans it will not be easy.

José Sepulcre is willing to make Vicente – under contract at The Amex until next summer – his best paid player as he aims to guide Elche back to the top flight and double the club’s number of members.

Sepulcre has been linked with several signings but told impatient fans: “None are players for whom it is easy to close a deal because they are desirable to other clubs.”

Elche recently appointed Fran Escribá, a friend and coach of Vicente in their days at Valencia, as first team boss.
