The club is moving in the right direction and yet some fans still want glen Murray back???? Are you for real, he left us to join our fiercest rivals and he is nowhere near the standard to take us to the next level. So please get a grip and get over him

Poyet urges Vicente to return

Vicente has not returned to Albion for the start of pre-season training Vicente has not returned to Albion for the start of pre-season training

Gus Poyet has called on Vicente to respect his contract and hammer out his differences with Albion.

But the Seagulls boss is not sure when he will see his absent playmaker.

Vicente was still in Spain as pre-season training was turned up a level yesterday.

The former Valencia star failed to agree a new deal with Albion and is unhappy they activated an option extending his contract until next June.

Vicente’s agent Victor Oñate has declared his client will not return to Sussex until differences with Albion are sorted out.

Poyet is reluctant to comment at length on the saga but last night told The Argus: “When a player is under contract you expect him to be here.

“Then there can be unhappiness, there can be decisions, there can be negotiations, there can be problems, there can be discussions, there can be 100 things between a player and a club.

“That’s normal because not everything is always perfect. But we will deal with it internally.”

Vicente is being strongly linked in Spain with a move to Elche providing his agent can engineer a way out of his commitments at The Amex.

Asked if he expected to see Vicente at Albion at any stage, Poyet added: “I’m not sure. I cannot answer that question.

“There are too many things in the press. The only thing we know is he didn’t turn up and is showing willingness to leave.

“But it is out of my hands. He’s under contract.”
