Hall plays for Spurs

Grant Hall Grant Hall

Grant Hall featured for Tottenham's academy team in a friendly at Kingstonian last night.

The young centre half has refused to sign a new contract with Albion, although they say the door is still open to him.

Tottenham monitored Hall in the Seagulls' development squad last season. The ex-Lewes stopper broke into Albion's first team at the turn of the year.

Withdraw the contract, he's OBVIOUSLY far too good for Brighton.

Who could blame him for refusing to sign a new contract with a mediocre Championship team when a top 4 Premier League team are showing so much interest in him.

Presumably he played for them as a free agent/triallist.
By all accounts he was the best player on the pitch.
If he goes on to do a deal with Spurs, which seems likely, they will have to approach Albion to agree terms for age related compensation or go to a tribunal.

You have to love Hove Park Resident!

For someone whom lives in the most mediocre, tacky part of Hove and obviously has the smallest manhood in existence whilst being the biggest online idiot I have ever seen to date to have the urge to wind up true Brighton fans, week in and week out, he must have some sort of social and emotional problems!

I'd like to see him dare say his peace to our faces rather than the online coward / wind up merchant that he is!

Unless you support the team and try to get behind them why don't you bugger off... Once promoted and it will happen, Brighton will have more chance of winning the prem than Hotspur especially after dumping Harry!

It'll be sad if we lose a promising young player but moving to a big club is obviously hard to turn down. But I do wonder if he'll regret going to Spurs (if he does) in the end. He has very limited first team experience at the moment and we are an ambitious Championship club. I just think he'd probably do better to get some real experience at the Albion before going to a bigger club. Is he really going to be good enough to actually play for Spurs. Or will he (along with many others) play for Spurs development squad and reserves for a couple of years, be told (along with many others) he won't makethe first team, be released and end up at a Division 2 team as someone who 'was at Spurs' rather than someone who 'played for Spurs'. How many players have we signed with that sort of pedigree over the last 50 years? And how many of them were really very good?

Does anyone know what Hall is doing at the moment in terms of fitness and training. Now that the players are well into pre-season training, I take it that he must be training somewhere - is this with Spurs? Any ideas?

Mike you are The Man,you`ve hit the nail on the head. The most annoying part of this ,is that we stand to lose a potentially brilliant young player, who we would nurture and mould into someone who WILL be good enough to play at the highest level, and it should be with us....are you there Grant?

Cannot see why we need 'One-size'. Is he better than Greer or El-Abd?
If Berbatov goes to Fat Sam's Hoof-It Academy then we might get a chance of signing Carlton Cole, especially if they get Carroll too. Cole would be awesome for us, in my opinion.

A club never wants to see a young talented player leave but that is business, and football is a business at the end of the day. Also, when you're a young player and chances come along, you've got to take them, because who knows when they could come along again? Wish him all the best, and Albion will be compensated.

I read it the other way round Capt, Interpretation eh.... I think if we get RM + 500k that would be a good deal for us, I know CMS is a workrate warrior with 20 goal potential but RM got 19 last season in a very average Leeds team and so think this may just work for us.

Dr Baldhead says...
1:55pm Tue 17 Jul 12

One issue here is that it's been clear that RM has wanted away from LU for some time, while CMS has vowed to stay and improve at BHA. If Albion start negotiating this deal it’ll seriously unsettle CMS regardless of the outcome.

With my objective hat on there is little to choose between the two options – two decent strikers and two of the better Championship teams. I still think CMS could be prolific for BHA but if we are honest most of us will be disappointed with how last season panned out – the team just didn’t seem set up to play to his strengths. I don’t think RM will unsettle teams like CMS can, but he has a good scoring record and is younger.

The Leeds fans I’ve seen discussing this are much of the same opinion as the Brighton ones – both would prefer their own man to stay but if the deals go ahead it wouldn’t be the end of the world. £500k adjustment in our favour sounds about right.

The Yorkshire Post reports Leeds interest in a swap deal with Albion for McCormack swapped for CMS.
Leeds are still in the middle of a change, or part change, of ownership, which could hold up any major transfer transactions.
I would not want CMS to go, however Leeds have got Snodgrass who does not want to extend his contract there. I wonder if he fits the bill for us? (Keeping CMS at the Amex of course).

And what happened to the much heralded arrival from Arsenal of Ignasi Miquel, their young central defender, on long term loan...? As for CMS - will anybody get the story straight...? Are we building a team around him or did that project die a death. Given the investment and players around him it is surely worth pursuing another complementary striker for him. I would certainly prefer to see CMS with us than against us. There is a point where you don't back and you have to exercise the plan B- I just hope there is one. Personally I think the prospect of Hoskins fulfilling his obvious potential alongside CMS is very exciting and I remain very optimistic for the season to come. But that's just me...

Sorry, but Tottenham are not a top four team. They are a mediocre Prem side that live off a bit of history from 50 odd years ago in the days of Bill Nicholson. Since then they have been ****. Their fans are a bunch of wannabe glory boys. Sadly though, much the same way as Liverpool were once a huge club times move on. Once upon a time Preston North End were considered a "big club" . Yet you would not say that about them now. Ditto Wolves.

I love CMS as an honest hard working and great lad - however I've doubted his ability to play the 'Gus Way' since the first friendly of last season. Nothing has changed my opinion. He is magnificent receiving very early balls over the top or into the channels - and he chases lost causes - I think he'd fit into Warnock's way far better than Gus'. It's not that he doesn't love BHA but simply he never gets the service which suits him best. We all saw how his body language changed as the season went on - there's a limit to how long you can chase lost causes before losing interest. I would like the best for the lad as he's a good'un - just don't see it with our system.
