Albion stroll to victory at Dorchester

Albion were comfortable 3-0 winners in their latest friendly at Dorchester tonight.

They strolled down The Avenue in Dorset against their hosts from the Blue Square Bet south division to add to comprehensive victories against Maidstone and Lewes.

Craig Noone (33) penalty, Will Buckley (63) and sub Ben Dickenson (76) against his old club continued the Seagulls' good early pre-season form.

All ten outfield players were replaced by development squad prospects, including several trialists, once Buckley had doubled the lead.

The senior players fit and not involved - among them Vicente - will play at Hastings tomorrow.

Another positive win again, still without conceding a goal. The real test will come against the likes of Chelsea and Reading. Nooney sounded bright, like he did in last season's friendlies which he carried on during the season. A good start, let's hope it continues, with hopefully another couple of signings to boost.

Noone and Buckley did look lively but created more for themselves than anyone else. Hoskins played the CMS role and lo and behold - looked like CMS. Even more convinced that striker not the top priority. Service to the striker is the missing link. Glad to hear Gus is spoilt for choice on his shopping spree.

Quite agree with what you said. You can have the worlds best striker playing you for but if he doesn't get the service he won't score.

Romeu, is that a total guess or do you know something sb? I was thinking Mceacran but the prem clubs have had a rethink about loaning the very best players to championship clubs, Swansea stuck him on the bench for the whole of last season and look what they are doing now, instead of blooding him they are buying big, I am not expecting Gus to bring in players from the football league, more likely from Europe.

Since the team at last came to my area of the country I can contribute. Whilst as expected the team were comfortably in control throughout the game my impressions were - Noone the most positive player going forward in control of the ball and on at least one occasion putting in a tackle as the last line of defence (also tried a smart overhead kick at goal which went over the bar), the only possible detrimental remark is that he could have passed on some occasions when he went on himself. Buckley took his chance very well lobbing the keeper. Hoskins got little supply, I could see only one chance which he took well but it was equally well saved by keeper at close range. From this one viewing I am not sure whether this is because of poor supply to the CF or the lack of his ablilty the find that space in the box that good stikers can do - my impression was that he was rarely not marked by a couple of defenders and thus difficult to find by others. I thought the full backs did well and created and used the width of the pitch effectively. The Development Squad when they came on were lively and impressive with several notable performances - good to see on an enjoyable evening.

Have to endorse the views on the development squad - very clearly being schooled in the Gus way. Never troubled and kept the ball well. Barker, Oatway, March and Dickinson very lively going forward. Defence never troubled - composed and working the ball from the back.

Certainly Josh Mceachran is a much more likely prospect - creative mid-fielder who wants to play games. His chances at Chelsea must be slim -with Hazard already in the ranks and Oscar apparently joining later. Why would Albion want a CB like Romeu? Would Gus guarantee Mceachran a certain number of 'starts'? That is the question. He was frozen out at Swansea and he would not want a repeat. Has anyone seen him play? Thoughts Capt. H?

I think he would be an excellent addition!

Albion always in control last night, Casper and Brez probably had to to warm UP at the final whistle, they had so little to do. Elphick looked assured and composed at CB alongside El-Abd, Noone showed some wonderful trickery and touches, sublime finishes from Buckley and Dickensen.
Agree totally about the Development Squad, thought they looked very lively, good movement and created a number of chances. George Barker for me particularly stood out, pacey, skilful and looked like he had a point to prove. All in all, a good work out and some pleasing performances. Shame we didn't see the Dagger, looks like the Hastings crowd are in for a treat!

Cheers for the fans' eye report, Dorset. Very informative and insightful (gives a more detailed idea of the player performances).

Am liking the description of good movement, Nooney's apparent form and George Barker's promise and hunger, in particular.

And with Dickensen and Barker both adding to the form of our other strikers in pre-season it's all very encouraging.

Maybe they'll get some game time this season in the cups?
