Vicente stars in Albion win
7:01pm Tuesday 24th July 2012 in Albion
Vicente scored a super goal and was involved in three others as Albion beat Portsmouth 5-1 in a friendly in Spain today.
The Spanish star helped create an early opener for Will Hoskins and was involved in Matt Sparrow's second before firing into the top corner himself.
Substitute Dan Thompson replied just before the break for a Pompey line-up made up of youngsters and trialists.
Vicente's free-kick was nodded in by Romain Vincelot for the fourth.
Along with Tommy Elphick, the former Valencia playmaker made his exit on 65 minutes, by which time Torbjorn Agdestein had added the fifth.

Better hope Vicente wants to leave Spain and come back to England this time without trying to hold BHAFC to ransom.

Have always thought Hoskins and CMS would be an exciting combination. It's always been the weakness of the midfield and defence that has meant we have had to over compensate in midfield. We still need a gritty midfielder and then our starting XI will be up there (still some doubt about strength in depth though, very good in terms of wingers, but struggle in quite a few other positions).

Yep JM also South Stand Tranny.
And back to footballing matters, if we don't sign anyone else it is a great opportunity for Hoskins and Toby to show their worth. We may be pleasantly surprised, good luck to them.

Don't bet against a signing before the end of the week. Not sure if people will be overwhelmed but it may be enough to keep our favourite pundit n the back foot for a few hours (then again maybe not)
He appears moderately confident that they might be completed over the next week or so - presumably before the Chelsea game.
Time is beginning to run out if Poyet wants people in so they can be integrated into the squad before the serious business begins against Swindon in 3 weeks time. Hopefully Burke is working flat out to get things successfully concluded asap.
Good to see a healthy 5-1 scoreline even if it was against a makeshift Pompey side. One can only beat the team you are playing. By all accounts 5 good goals especially apparently Vicente's.
Pleased to see that Hoskins scored again and that young Agdestein also scored.

As for 3 hours kicking a ball about! Think they do a bit more than that, Go to the beach, spend time in the night clubs just like at home except they are 99.9% sure of sunshine.
Oh yes then they spend a long British season playing pro football in all weathers sometimes three times a week.

The Balmy issue is a strange one. On Sat The Argus lauded the fact that 'Albion are going to offer Balmy a contract' and all has gone quiet. Many got excited on this site saying what a wonderfull aquisition. All well and good but as has been quoted, there is nothing on The Albions web site. He may have been offered a contract but has he or will he accept??? I hope he does from what has been said about him. Spurs and Arsenal may well have OFFERED him a contract--who knows, but this story now needs to have some ending.
Balmy and Charlie Oatway have announced their intended civil marriage during the 2012/13 season. The happy couple say the combination of a spamhead and hairy monster will be perfect
