Crofts in Welsh squad
2:31pm Wednesday 29th August 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Call up: Andrew Crofts
Albion midfielder Andrew Crofts has been named in the Welsh squad to kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Crofts, a regular in the Welsh set-up, has been confirmed in the party from which Chris Coleman will select for two forthcoming fixtures.
Wales face Belgium a week on Friday at the Cardiff City Stadium.
They then go to Novi Sad to face Serbia on September 11.
Joel Lynch, the Huddersfield defender from Eastbourne, is also in the squad.

Just a rumour, not to be taken seriously, Andrea Orlandi a Spanish player at Swansea? Doesn't sound too far fetched and being Spanish it might have some truth to it.

Confirmation that two of our three international players have been called up, just one to go now. We should all be proud to know that whilst they might wear a different colored shirt for their matches, they all travel with the attributes and skills that have been honed when wearing the stripes of Brighton.

Vicente, certainly a few years ago. Bridge, oddly enough I did ponder that, and if he can bang in yet more goals, why not. Kuszczac, is his national team playing?
Further to the rumour posted by Hovite. Sky Sports mostly use the word, "sources," prior to annoucing a move by one club or another. I am thinking that there are a lot of, "sources," out there, how come none of these sources are hearing anything about our club making moves.
If we are tracking a player would it not be in his interest if a source were to let something slip out, create an auction for that player's services, agents are often a reliable source and I would suggest that most of these so called tips come from them.

As far as a player starting his own rumour goes, it could be more of an embarrassment if they let it slip. I don't see the benefit.

The truth is Vegas, that a lot of the players are on a lot of clubs lists. If you stand back there is probably a lot of truth to most rumours because most players can be connected to most of them, even if distantly. However any factual progress can only be known when they sign the contract. That is when it is news and not rumour. As far as a player starting his own rumour goes, it could be more of an embarrassment if they let it slip. I don't see the benefit.

There is a very interesting article on the BBC Sport Website with Clark Carlisle talking about the problems players are having trying to get a club, sorry I don't 'know how to transfer the page maybe one of you could tell me how.
Worth a read to help see football in the wider context.

Talking of Wales, reports suggests Noone could be on his way to Cardiff. Only a good move for us if we get someone better in. I would like to have seen us compete with Forest for the signature of Henri Lansbury but maybe his wage demands were too high?

Looks like you have your answer already, Gordon. I guess that once Buckley is fit, Noone could find himself back on the bench. But he's a quality player and you have to replace quality with better quality, which isn't easy.
Unfortunately, there will be times when they aren't available, but it would be difficult to critiise Nooney, so good luck to him.

1. Stature of the club
2. Direction of the club
3. Financial security of the club
4. Who manages the club
5. Quality of the squad
6. Expectations of starting each game
7. Wages
8. Wife and children (if they exist)
9. Quality of life for said family in the location
10. Length of contract
Now I am not sure exactly what order these items should be in, but I am pretty sure that many of them need a tick before a player signs up to a new club.
I think that the two possible sticking points with regard a move to Brighton would be, wages and expectation of starting most weeks.
I think foreign players would accept what we have to offer more than domestic ones.
Your thoughts please.

'Wages' takes up the least room on your list, but by far the greater room in the priorities of most of players.
