Albion sign Dobbie

Albion have signed Swansea striker Stephen Dobbie on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The Seagulls have seen off competition from Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Bristol City to land the Glaswegian.

Dobbie has scored an impressive 26 goals in 48 starts for Swansea and Blackpool.

Albion manager Gus Poyet said: "He is a quality striker, who will complement our existing forwards and give us different attacking options.

"He has great quality which will unlock defences and I have no doubt he will also score plenty of goals.

"He has played and proven himself at this level and in the Premier League. His goals helped Blackpool win promotion in 2010 and he returned on loan to help them reach the play-off final last season."

Further signings are expected before the 11pm transfer deadline, with reports in Spain claiming Albion are signing Athletic Bilbao midfielder David Lopez in a one-year deal after he cancelled his contract with the La Liga outfit by mutual consent.

He looked good for Blackpool last year. GP has obviously gone off the target man idea (if he was ever on it) and is looking for the buzz of the two strikers in Dobbie and CMS. It worked for Peterborough, they didn't have a big bloke up front when CMS was there!

And another Spanish midfielder. Only a one year deal having had his contract cancelled though, another sick note signing!!?

Well anyone that moans now isn't worth worrying about.7 new players if Lopez arrives and all an improvement to what we had.

so undisclosed anyone have a well informed estimate how much we paid? great signing though and knows his way around the play offs and can handle the pressure towards the tougher parts of the season where we lacked in parts last season. Will be brilliant to see him with the rest of the team, and im sure he will give us a cutting edge up front.

David Lopez will play next season in the English Brighton. Rioja midfielder signed for the British club after his contract with Athletic in the last hours. Lopez, who had recently Bielsa, seek to recover their best football at Albion. It loses a bit in translation.

Must not give in to a Harry Potter - Gus working his magic related pun

In all seriousness though, we have a team that is not far off of Premier League standard. The Gus bus clearly runs on rocket fuel

VegasSeagull, I have a question for you if you don't mind?

Me & the missus are off to California on Wednesday. We're flying into San Fran & touring down the coast to San Diago & then over to Vegas.

Is there anywhere I can watch the B'ton games over there? I'm gutted to be giving away my S.Wednesday ticket so if I can catch any of the action I'm happy (btw I haven't mention this to the missus yet so sssshhhh)

Yep it's hard being away at times. As you say, you can hop across, mine is a 10 hour non stop flight.

I really hope we get promoted because then I iwll have the chance of seeing them on my soccor channel.

I think our season starts now, the signings we have since the end of last season has made us a different team, and we were a good team last year.

Don't include me in your most.Quite a few of us who live abroad come on here to have a bit of banter and although we choose to live in a different country we are still SUPPORTERS.

You will love that trip, take the coast road and ignore the interstate. If any Brighton matches are on Sky you can watch them on your laptop. There are a few sites that broadcast live soccor, a simple search will guide you.

If I didn't know better I would guess that we know each other, in fact I would guess that we know each other quite well.
Of course I do know better because my pal in England, or he might be in Cyprus right now, wouldn't wind me up with a question about a journey that we all took just a couple of years ago.

Maybe a coincidence, maybe.

Why does campotolox keep going on about Vegas's fridge. He has been stuck on it like a magnet for the last 3 hours?

Hello again campo, has the dribbling problem stopped,or did nurse have to change you again. She said you almost ate all your dinner today, but one of them got away and scuttled under Vegas` broken freezer. And i dont think he was playing poker,he was digging a hole in the majavi, and after all the bad things you said about him ,he insists its all for you, please dont let him down.

The transfer fee is undisclosed but I bet it was handed over in a sock.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Haha!

Dobbie will certainly be handy around the house....er, I mean penalty box!

Jokes aside, he's a very good player with just the experience we need.

Hopefully Dobbie will be the partner that will get the best out of Smithy which should ensure a top half league position.
